Ripped the stringers, gunwales, inwales, rubwales, and keelson all from one 5.5″x12′ board of poplar. They say you can even make these boats out of 2x4s but I figure might as well go for the “good” wood if you are going to spend a lot of time on a project. Also cut the stem parts from poplar.  All the wales are clamped to pre bend them in the vertical direction so they don’t twist on the frame. Had to spray them down with a bit of water to get the bend.<\/p>\n
