<\/em><\/p>\n

Open for Business<\/em><\/strong> calls attention to the importance of local artists, businesses<\/p>\n

and organizations.\u00c2\u00a0 Simultaneously taking place in downtown Tempe businesses<\/p>\n

and an interrelated exhibition at the ASU Art Museum, this project features the<\/p>\n

work of sixteen Valley artists who address the purpose of each business, providing<\/p>\n

opportunities for audience members to interact with the physical space of each<\/p>\n

location and to discover, or rediscover, new aspects of their own community.<\/p>\n

BUSINESSES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Individuals will be guided by\u00c2\u00a0maps available at the ASU Art Museum<\/strong> to art<\/p>\n

installations at downtown Tempe business including La Bocca, Rula Bula,<\/p>\n

Caff\u00c3\u00a9 Boa, The Shoe Mill, Brand X Custom T-Shirts, Monti’s La Casa Vieja,<\/p>\n

Mood Swings Salon, Fascinations, Cartel Coffee Lab, Buffalo Exchange,<\/p>\n

The Bicycle Cellar, The Headquarters, and Downtown Tempe Community, Inc.<\/p>\n

(Public Parking Structures)<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

ARTISTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The list of\u00c2\u00a0Valley artists participating in the exhibition<\/strong> include both internationally<\/p>\n

established and rising stars of our community, including Peter Bugg in collaboration<\/p>\n

with Ryan Peter Miller, Cyndi Coon, Wendy Furman, Jon Haddock, Saskia Jorda,<\/p>\n

Tania Katan, Mary Lucking, Matthew Mosher, Adam Murray, Marco Rosichelli,<\/p>\n

Erin V. Sotak, David Tinapple, Chris Todd, Jen Urso, Nic Wiesinger, and<\/p>\n

Whitney Zam\u00c3\u00a1<\/p>\n

STRATEGIC PARTNERS AND SUPPORT<\/strong><\/p>\n

To insure the success and outreach of the project, the\u00c2\u00a0ASU Art Museum has<\/strong><\/p>\n

partnered<\/strong> with Tempe Chamber of Commerce,\u00c2\u00a0Tempe<\/em> <\/strong>Convention and Visitors Bureau,<\/p>\n

Downtown Tempe Community (DTC), Local First Arizona, Valley Forward Association,<\/p>\n

Creative Connect, Comerica Bank (Tempe, Mill), *Scottsdale Public Art, and<\/p>\n

Volunteer Legal Assistance for Artists (VLAA).<\/p>\n

This project is generously supported<\/strong> by a grant from the Tempe Municipal Arts<\/p>\n

Commission, ASU Art Museum Advisory Board, and the Wilhelmine Prinzen<\/p>\n

Endowed Fund for Emerging Artists.<\/p>\n

In-kind support provided<\/strong> by Phoenix NewTimes, Ben Franklin Press, Inc.,<\/p>\n

*Scottsdale Public Art<\/strong> is organizing the store front project\u00c2\u00a0IN FLUX<\/em><\/strong> in Downtown<\/p>\n

Scottsdale that will occur during the same time period.\u00c2\u00a0 Through this collaboration,<\/p>\n

both institutions will combine efforts to create cross-over audience and awareness.<\/p>\n
