UNIT V1: Modular Units and Repetition<\/p>\n

OBJECTIVE: Introduction of the concepts of \u201crepetition,\u201d \u201cmodularity,\u201d and \u201cpart to whole\u201d relationships. Application of modular principles to the construction of three-dimensional form.<\/p>\n

PROJECT: We fly on leaves of frost – Book Art<\/p>\n

PROCESS:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Given a used book, fold each page to create a pattern. Experiment with different folds and different patterns.<\/li>\n
  2. Create an artist\u2019s book using mixed materials. Books should have at least 10 pages if hand bound and 20 pages if using a found book. All pages should relate to each other somehow and be considered parts of a whole. These books should be precious objects, treasures. Consider:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      2. Binding your own book<\/li>\n
      3. Size \/ Weight \/ Texture<\/li>\n
      4. Use of Text<\/li>\n
      5. Ramifications of Material choices<\/li>\n
      6. Message<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n
