Get ready for “Grand Opening,” an exhibition of new media art by thirteen Arizona State University Intermedia Graduate Seminar students.  The theme of the exhibition parallels the site  of the Night Gallery, Tempe Marketplace, where shoppers are invited to experience art created from an experimental perspective.  The artists have each presented their work with a reference to the world of consumer products.  The exhibition features new ways artists are engaging today’s visual and conceptual issues, with technology heading the list.

“Grand Opening”  artists include: Peter Christenson, Matthew Garcia, Natalia Jaeger, Siri Khandavilli, Robert Madera, Teresa Miro Martin, Matthew Mosher, Anthony Obr, M. Jenea Sanchez, Donald Vance, Nicholas Wiesinger, Sebastian Wittig.  Graphics  were produced by Derrick Reed.  The seminar was conducted by Professor Muriel Magenta, School of Art, Arizona State University. The artists will be present at the Opening Reception on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 6pm – 9pm to “shop talk” their work.

The Night Gallery showcases artworks by ASU Herberger Institute faculty, graduate students and alumni. The gallery is a product of the community partnership between Herberger Institute and Vestar, Development Corporation, at Tempe Marketplace.
