Through an established live video / web feed in the artists’ shared studio, Summoned Surveillance invites online viewers to remotely observe and interact in real-time with the artists through a computer web browser.

The new-genre, performance piece is meant to explore a range of issues including those related to privacy and voyeurism, intellectual property, and public and self-scrutiny. The installation investigates both the synthesis and disconnect between the actual and virtual realms, the artificial (re)presentation of reality in the electronic world, and contemporary culture’s obsession with watching reproduced realism in the media.

Because of the split-location nature of this exhibition our opening is happening at THREE locations simultaneously! There will be a formal art opening at the GPSA Gallery showing the videocast from our concurrent studio dance party opening. You can also watch the studio opening from home at: http://www.public.asu.edu/~ptchrist/cdso3.html
